Grounded All Summer Is It Fair?

By admin Posted in: windows phone game

I am 14 years old, I charged $600 of internet porn to my moms credit card. i didnt realize i got charged per video… i also cut school a lot to watch them, and am failing math. I hid the credit card bill from my mom when it came, she found it a week later…. I am grounded till the end of the schoolyear for bad math grades, not doing homework, and cutting class. Grounded the whole summer for using her card and having a bad attitude. So thats like 8 months of grounding, i have about 6 more left:(
She took everything out of my room except bed and books. no tv, computer, video games, phone, no going outside even in the yard, no friends over or going to friends houses. I’m grounded to my room literally. I’m allowed out for school and bathroom, and of course extra chores.
meals in my room, bedtime at 8 since i argued with her.
I started to argue and told her I am sorry and i am so bored but she said “I’m glad your sorry but your still being punished. Being bored in your room is what grounding is all about. Thats right, you lost your summer vacation. Maybe next time you wont steal $600 from me and fail math. No TV for 8 months is NOT cruel and unusual punishment, its teaching you a lesson. You want fresh air open a window. You go in your room now and take your punishment.
i hate being stuck in my room, and isnt there like a legal limit to being grounded to your room? She thinks no, grounded means you stay in your room. I have 2 more months left….

you are and idiot and are lucky you didn’t get it worse.

How are you posting here if you have no computer?
If you stole $600 then yeah that’s fair.

  3. Lindsey Says

Sorry, kiddo, but that is pretty fair. At my house we got grounded for a LOT less. It’ll be over before you know it. She’s just trying to teach you the watching $600 worth of porn and missing math because of it is…. not cool. Just be glad she’s not making you pay back the $600.

8 months is rough. But jesus dude, there is tons of free porn on the internet. Definitely not cool using her credit card for porn, and even worse hiding the bill. But you sound like you’re genuinely sorry. It sounds like the porn and the grades are related and it isn’t very healthy behavior. You should ask your mom to help you find some counseling to help you figure out why you were developing and addiction to it. It would probably help you both feel better about this.

Sorry but it sucks to be you and yes you deserved it, sorry to say it, but my advice is put forethought into your actions before you do them and realize that your school career is more important just boring old school that only gives teachers a job. I hope you’re not in highschool because if you’re not you have a chance to realize that you should appreciate your classes. Math is important as well as science and literacy. Stay and school and do chores and such, and maybe your mom will let you off early or let you at least go outside. Since you can’t watch t.v. read a good book or watch Carl Sagans cosmos, since you have access to the internet.

it’s absolutely, totally fair. You committed a crime. It wasn’t just bad behaviour, it was a crime – credit card fraud. You are lucky the punishment is not worse. There is no legal limit to grounding and it sounds like the lesson is working. Suck it up, reflect and learn.
If you really want to reduce your penalty you have to earn it. Perhaps you could spend some of the time practicing your math. Don’t moan and complain. Do as you are told and demonstrate that you are truely sorry.
Sneaking time on your mum’s computer is not the way to go.
